First Notice of Loss
Your initial report of a claim to the insurance carrier.
FNOL starts the carrier clock. Under Florida Statute 627.70131, the carrier has 14 days to acknowledge the claim and 60 days to pay or deny after receiving a proof of loss.
Example. Calling your carrier at 9 AM after a burst pipe is the FNOL. The claim number they give you references this moment.
