Assignment of Benefits
A signed document transferring your claim rights to a contractor.
AOB lets a contractor (roofer, water restoration company, etc.) negotiate directly with your insurance carrier and receive payment. Florida Statute 627.7152 now heavily regulates AOBs after abuse in the 2010s.
Example. A roofer who asks you to sign an AOB after a hurricane is asking for your claim rights. Read everything. Consult a public adjuster first.
